In the European Union, disinfection products such as disinfectant and hand sanitizer with disinfection function are all within the category of biocides and are regulated by the BPR Regulation ((EU) No 528/2012). The content of management includes: the active substances in disinfection products (the main ingredients for disinfection), such as the alcohol (ethanol) in 75% alcohol disinfectant; and the disinfection products themselves.
For a disinfection product to be marketed in the EU, two conditions must be met according to the BPR regulations:
(1) The active substances and suppliers of the product must be listed in the Article 95 list. The list is as follows: https://echa.europa.eu/information-on-chemicals/active-substance-suppliers;
(2) The product is authorized by the destination country of export. If you want to sell in multiple countries in the EU, you can choose to complete the authorization of one country first, and then complete the authorization of products in multiple countries through mutual recognition; you can also adopt the authorization method of submitting the entire EU.
